Clown Hosting Hammer Coral

Is this something likely to happen, because I know it is decently hard to keep an anemone, and I like the looks of a hammer coral more anyway.

Very possible, they will host a lot of things. Although anemones are difficult to keep, they are more 'hardy' when it comes to the grooming habbits of clowns when they are hosting. Opposed to corals which are a little easier to keep in terms of water conditions, but a lot of corals won't last long-term with hosting. I'm not saying they won't, i'm just saying it is less likely for survival unless it gets used to / accustom to the grooming.
Just keep an eye on it, i've lost a flowerpot coral because of a clown hosting, and i've read a few stories of other people losing softer corals because of hosting.

Really, they can do damage to a coral if they try to host it? I might wanna try to get my clown to host my xenia...

It really just depends on the reaction of the coral - this is why some people dont' want their clown hosting certain corals becaues they've been known not to like the hosting process and eventually die from it.
You'll probably be fine, i'm just letting you know you should watch the health of your hammer closely and any signs of stress you should separate the two.

Its considered an irritant to the coral because its not a natural occuring relationship. depending on how irritating the fish is to the coral will determine the severity of damage and or the longevity of the corals health.

I have a little clown that host a large hairy mushroom, doesn't seem to hurt the mushroom at all. Maybe try one of those.

Eh never been a real fan of hairy mushrooms, but if it means I wont have a dead $40 hammer coral I guess I might try toget my clown to host that. I'm pretty sure he'll like it more than the Mag-Float.

MIne was in a frogspawn and as much as I read that they irritate the coral, I do not believe it!! That frog never retracted in the slightest!
If he does host the hammer, I have pure confidence that the hammer will not mind a bit.

From everything I've read, nothing is certain when it comes to hosting! Some clowns will, some clowns won't. They'll pick this anemone or this coral or ignore it altogether.
We were told our Maroon would definitely host our BTA and it has yet to go near the thing.
So I would say nothing is a 100% guarantee. I haven't seen a clown host a hammer. I've seen them in carpets, long tentacle anemones, condylactis anemones, and in a torches. I've even seen one try to host a tiny BTA that was half the size of the fish (poor thing was probably getting smothered from the fish sitting on top of it).
