After 3 1/2 months of relative success, I've experienced my first loss
Yesterday, we noticed that one of our two perc clowns didn't look quite right. Seemed to be pale with blotchy white spots, but not salt spots like described for ich. After doing a search and looking at the disease FAQ, I'm certain it is Brooklynella.
Anyhow, this morning he died. The second clown is looking like it may be getting the same symptoms tonight. I will be getting a QT tank this weekend, but based on how fast the other died, I don't think my 2nd clown will make it that long.
Any suggestions on how to save him or is it too late?
As for changes in the tank, we added a LT anemone and small carpet anemone 1 1/2 weeks ago. In hindsight, that may have been too soon, although they are doing fine.
Neither clown hosted them, but I saw them around the LT a few times. Not sure if these additions may have caused the problem. In fact, that is a question I have too. What causes brooklynella?
I also have a couple of yellow tail damsels, 1 small coral beauty, 1 large swallowtail angel and 1 lawnmower blenny. All others are doing fine.
Can any of the other fish catch this disease?
Tank size is 135 gallons. Water parameters continue to be good, except alkaline is high (no number - Red Sea test)
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
PH 8.2
Salinity 1.023
Temp 78
Thanks for any help.
