Poor little guy. Although right now he is probably disoriented, he will recover. Why did the leather die? I know clowns can adapt to many different corals for a home, but never heard of this for a leather. What kind of leather? Toadstool? Tree? Is it possible that the clown always aggitated the leather so that the polyps never came out to catch light?
Cheers,
kris

Poor baby. :(
I would just watch out for him carefully. He might take another coral for a host, or he might just be fine, without one. Clowns do not need hosts to be happy. He may be somewhat confused and uptight, but he'll settle down. Just keep an eye on the little guy. Sorry about your leather.

I'm sorry to hear about your leather coral too :( .
If the clownfish bothered the leather so much that it died, then I wouldn't get another leather, it might just happen again. (Or if you feel you must have a leather coral, then maybe you should wait a month or two and let the clown "forget" so he might leave the new one alone)
Don't worry about your clown, he will be fine without a host!
One thing you will want to do is to watch your water parameters and remove any pieces of dead coral before they start decaying.
Good luck!

Thanks alot. but there is some decaying parts in the tank. i cant get to it. it just decinagrates(spelling?)in the tank when i pick it up. will that cause my levels to rise? My clown is looking at my other leathers to pick out the one he likes best. reminds me of a bed. You have to try out all of them to see what you like best. CAN ANYBODY HELP GET THIS CLOWN OUT OF MY LEATHERS! ANY INFO HELPS! THANKS.

Hi again,
Well, I think you know the answer to your question. You already have other leathers in your tank. You have a clown eyeing them up. The only way to get the clown to not take one of them for his home is to remove the clown or leathers he is eyeing up.
As for the dead coral, if you have a cleanup crew with crabs, starfish, and/or shrimp, they should take care of that for you. I would monitor the ammon though just in case.
good luck, :)
