Clown trigger and the reef?

I have a friend that swears one can keep clown triggers in a Reef of just Live rock and most soft corals. He has only mushrooms in his reef with two triggers, Clown and Blue throat they do leave everything alone. I never knew. I thought they would eat the corals.

Well, Lars, some people just get lucky. Most Triggers would enjoy a little snack on those corals. Blue Throats are not nearly as bad as Clowns. Tell me, how large are these 2 triggers, it may be there size that matters. Some small triggers don't develop those nasty characteristics of munching on corals until they are older. They are always gonna eat inverts though.

The Blue is 6 inch, The Clown maybe 4 inch, They don't mess with the other fish either. A large damsel half their size pushes them around.
