Does a Clown Triggers diet consist of a Yellow Tang, couple damsels, and a few snails? If so i might as well cook him a steak(well done butterflied)
I recently added him to my tank which lasted a couple days now i found my yellow tang on his side on the bottom and a couple damsels missing with no trace. I also noticed that when my hand goes in the water he wants to make a move towards it :scared: What other fish can i put with this guy i have a nigerian trigger on hold and dont know what i should do??? PLEASE HELP....:help:

I would return it the clown trigger needs atleast a 125g tank.
It can grow up to 1ft 8in.
Minimum size for a n. trigger is 75.
And can grow up to 1ft.
I seen a trigger chase a fish twice its size the other fish was scared as hell.

Clown Trigger's are wickid aggressive. Move your finger across the glass and one will chase it likes its a nice tender morsel :D
Put a Lionfish in there lol.
Actually, yur tank is a bit small for those 2.

I'd return him while you still can. IMO a Clown Trigger (no matter what size) is too big to live happily in a 46g tank. It would be hard to find any fish to put in the tank with him...another trigger would be pushing your limit as is, with no room for growth.
I dont care when you are getting a new tank, save yourself some $$, and dont get the NIGER, and trade in the Clown. If not, keep only the clown, and tank upgrade ASAP.
About feeding...don't feed any of your fish guppies. Do you see guppies in the ocean? In the long run, this could be harming your fish. A meaty diet is a must for any trigger. Last night I went ot the store, and got 1 whole squid, 5 scallops, and 10 small (tiny!) raw cocktail shrimp. I chopped this stuff up so much, it was almost a liquid when I was done. Then I added some FINELY chopped garlic, froze it, and my fish loves it!! The great part about this is that it only cost me $2 all together, and it will last a long time.
I'd probably feed him this about once a day, but make it a healthy portion...enough food to keep him eating for 1-2 minutes.

Yes, I certainly believe a clown trigger is capable of killing those fish, no problem.
And since it is rarely a finicky fish, there is no reason whatsoever to feed it guppies (as mentioned, they don't live in the ocean). Feed the trigger shrimp, krill, silversides (frozen but thawed)...anything meaty should do the trick.
I also agree that it is far too much of a fish to be in that small of a tank. Will be a terror to anything.
