my boyfriend is getting interested in a clown trigger, that is his absolute favorite fish ever, what would be a good size tank for one, do they have to be spec. only or can you have other things in there with them, i know they get big but how big is big
any information would be greaty welcomed
thanks everyone

They get up to 18 inches and are incredibly aggressive. Definitely not a fish that stays on the smaller end. There are few tank mates that would be suitable to put them with. I would certainly recommend a species only tank for these guys.

Juveniles should not even be attempted. They fare terribly.
For a full size clown trigger, I would recommend no smaller than a 300 gallon aquarium for one.

Any fish could be trouble. I agree with lion_crazz, a species tank is really the only safe long-term way to go.CTs are notorious for being quite civilized, sometimes for years, then you wake up one morning and he's killed everything in the tank. IMO, a large puffer or other large trigger can be kept in a large tank with a CT--but everything is iffy.

Yes they are fast growers. I have had my Clown trigger for 4-5 months and it has grown at least 1-2" in that time.
