I have a young clown trigger with a puffy top dorsal fin that is always fully erect. Has anyone came across this or know if it is a problem? Everything else seems to be ok.
ihad a clown trigger that done that also and sometimes it would shake and go crazy in my tank i think maybe its stressing you shoould check your chemicals also i know when i was a manager at ***** the people we bought the fish from said that the fish sometimes would do good in the tank for about a month and the fish would die cause of the toxins in the body that the people caught it with in the ocean would leave the body and coudlnt take the stress
You need to go into a lot more detail. Describe the fin. What size tank is it in? What are all of the parameters? What tankmates are in there. Do you have a quarintine tank? Bo
I have a 125 gallon tank with 80 lbs live rock. There is a picasso trigger, 2 clowns, lion fish, grouper, yellow tang, emperor angel and snowflake eel. The tank has been running for about a year and haven't had any other problems. The trigger eats fine and doesn't seem to have any other problems.
I looks like some type of growth all around its top dorsal fin. It almost looks like the fin needs to be popped or something. I have never seen this in on a fish before. Like I said before everything else seems to be fine but the fin is getting worse.
Triggers will use that top fin to anchor themselves at night time to rock and stuff.
Find out where yours is doing it and who's coming up to him when he's doing that.
If the skin is intact then I wouldnt worry about it since not much can be done if its tumorous . Just make sure nothings wacky with the water or no stray electricity in your tank.
