clownfish aggression

This may sound like a stupid question, but i'm wondering what it means when on clown fish becomes aggressive with the other. They had been passive and peaceful for the month or so that i've had them, but one of them has become aggressive towards the other. What does this mean and is there anything i can do to stop this?

I agree with the last post. Another possiblity is that you have two different species. Different types of clowns will often get along well when they are immature. However, when they mature, they usually will not tolerate other species.

Clowns can be rather strange. I have a mated pair of Clarkii that like to fight (so it looks like), all day long, but they sleep togeather in the anemone at night.

Sounds like a typical married couple to me
