I lost a perc clown today unexpectadetly. He was swiming and eating fine and when I found him this morning he was laying in the sand and my nass snails were all over him. My water paramets are as follows ammonia: 0 nitrite: 0 nitrate: 0 ph 8.3 temp 81.
Now tonight the other clownfish is laying on his side in the sand. However, if I put the net in he swims around fine. I currently have him in my sump with the stuff turned off and he seems to be exploring alright. I can't figure out whats going on here. All help welcome.

Did the fish look okay? The most common disease that would have killed a clownfish is brooklynella. Do you quarantine?
Is anything new in the tank? New introductions are more likely to be part of the root of the problem.

Here's an update: I put him in my sump last night with some of the equipment off and he is still alive today. He looks normal to me and appears to be as healthy as ever. I dont think he has brooklynella as his scales and skin look fine and his color is normal. Ill keep a close eye on him. I have not added anything new to my tank in at least a month. I unfortunatley do not have a QT tank but ill most likely try to set one up soon in case his condition worsens.

could it be that your water is too hot. because I was told that the temp for a saltwaster fish tank is 74-78 f degrees
