Should my stripeless ocellarius clownfish be constantly swimming with his mouth openning and closing at a really fast rate and it has been staying on the bottom of the sand. It's also not wanting to eat for the past couple of days. Is this a common behavior for clownfish or is this a sign of it getting sickly? :notsure: :help: :notsure: :help:

My water conditions are all normal! It just sits on the bottom bending its tail. As of right now it's vertical (head pointing upwards) and rapidly openning and closing its mouth.

How long ago did you get the clownfish?
How long has your system been set up?
Is anybody picking on him?
Have you tried soaking food in garlic or maybe enticing him to eat with brine or mysis shrimp?
What is your temp and SG?

I have had him for little over 1.5 months. I have pellet food, and live brine and when ever it falls in front of him its like he doesn't even want it, all my other fish go nuts for the food! My SG is 1.023 to 1.024 and my temp is 78 to 80 degrees. And my tank has been set up for over 4.5 to 5 months now.

Try feeding some Marine Cuisine. Can ylu get yours hands on live brine? This will have no nutritional value but it may entice the fsh to eat. Any spots on the clown at all? Faded color? Pop Eye? How big is your tank and how many fish are in there.
Let me get my clownfish book and look at some common disease and see if i can find any that match your description,

I tried to find something that matches your symptoms... but reall the only thing that really sticks out is Stress which could be caused by a number of things... you may want to get another test kit to confirm that your readings are fine.
One thing that caught my eye which is probably a long shot is "Floating Bloat" iut often happens when feeding pellets. Your clownfish will have trouble getting to the bottom of the tank.
The other would be "deflated Swim Bladder disease" but this ussually happens within the first 2 weeks of metamorphises and stays with them through out their life time, which they are acctually able to live a full life under the right conditions. IE shallow tank.
Sorry I couldnt be anymore help.

Are there any spots or blemishes on your clownfish? It could be ick? Look for the spots in the morining or evening. The spots may not be there all of the time check it for 3-4 days. They come and go as the parasites life cycle changes.

Unfortunately I woke up to the upsetting sight of my fire shrimp eating my clownfish. (The night before it was laying on the sand bed, breathing heavy, so all I thought at that moment was that in the morning I would find him floating on the top) ! :( :( :(
