We have a fairly new 29 gallon tank, it's only been up for almost 3 months. The only fish we had in there were 2 false percula clowns and they've been together 2 out of the 3 months the tank has existed. They seemed to be a pair, one was definitely more dominant, but there wasn't mush size difference yet. Last night the one we believed to be the male(the slightly smaller, less dominant one) died after being sucked into the Aqua Clear wave maker pump while the lights were off. We've since taken the pump out until we can prevent it from happening again. However the other fish seemed freaked out over the situation. It would normally stay on the side the wavemaker was on, but now it's just staying in one spot on the other side of the tank swimming against the glass. I even tried to feed it and it ignored the food. I don't know if fish can get traumatized after losing a mate, but that's what it seems like. Maybe it's afraid of the pump, even though we took it out. We were going to get another smaller clown tomorrow, we just wanted to know if this one would be fine, and what could be happening.
