Clownfish Trouble...

A couple weeks ago I had bought a cute little clownfish. My wife was happy that we finally had something in the tank at home. lol. So, two days ago I noticed it had ICH!!! Cryptocaryon Irritans, (thanks FloridaJoe). So, I rushed out and bought a 20g long aquarium from a big box store that is having a $1/g sale and I hooked up a used filter and a used heater and some other stuff and mixed some saltwater to make an emergency hospital tank so I could dose some chelated copper sulfate to get him all better and healthy. I know what I'm doing when it comes to hospital/quarantine tanks and I was certain I would get him better if I treated him.
Well, this afternoon, after I got back from church and eating, I was going to put him in the new hospital tank to begin doing the 8week treatment and let my display tank sit fallow until then to get the ich out of my tank. That is until I came home and my clownfish decided that life wasn't worth living and was all dried up carpet surfing.
My wife found it. :(
So, my first personal fish in the last three years got ich and then carpet surfed. I'm not having any luck am I?
RIP Nemo, you will be missed.

Awww that sucks! Sorry for your loss! Ich sucks, I'm dealing with it too right now, 3 fish in qt tank, the rest didn't make it.

Sorry to here about your lose. After ich wiped out my DT of 9 fish one being 2 year old Naso that was just starting to get his streamers, I QT everything that is wet, my came in on LR.

I have read about people qting lr and corals, does that mean they go in a separate tank for 8 weeks? Sorry if this is a dumb question, seems the answer is pretty obvious....I just don't want to ever deal with ich again, I have lost 5 fish now.

You can dip corals, forgot the product I haven't purchased a piece of coral in about 8 years. But LR and snails, crabs and others, I QT for 8 weeks. Never want to see ick again.

Well not meaning to highjack thread....I do dip my corals, added new lr at the end of august, but I have only just started to qt, set up hospital tank bec of ich. My tank has only been set up since April this year, almost 7 mos old. Lesson learned.

"Well not meaning to highjack thread" I'll answer for Snake (if that ok with you) since your not on line. Snake knows what to do he's an expert he was gambling and lost. Ya I learned the hard way also, back in the day we didn't have these great forums, had to rely on LFS and people you met at them.

Yeah, you're right, I should have had a hospital/QT tank set up before I put em' in my tank. I did take a gamble, but it's ok! I would have saved the little bugger if he hadn't have jumped. Oh well, win some, loose some.
