Clownfish!!

i ahd a tomato clown for about a 3 weeks . then yesterday i bought a 2 tomato clown. it was about 1/2 the size of the other one mabe a lil bigger. the big one is beating it up pritty bad. now the new clown is sitting in the top back corner of my tang.is it hiding from the other one?? what shud i do??

I had a similar situation. I first had a tomato clown about 2 inches. Later on I brought in a smaller percula clown. The tomato clown nudged him a few times especially during feeding. Now, he ignores him.
Give it a little time and watch them closely!

I know this is not easy with saltwater tanks. But if you can take the mean guy out for a bit and move the rock around a bit he will then have to find a new territory. This works for cichlids but is not that easy with the saltwater tanks. It is worth a try.

i moved the rocks and i had the lights off all day yesterday! now i have them on and the smaller clown is still hiding on the top back of my tank. i fed him and he ate a lil but the other clown came and started to bite his fins again so he can get his food!!!! what shud i doo!! his fins are totaly screwed up

Try putting meany in the qt for a couple days. The little guy can get some food & heal. If not the stress will kill him!!

PLease do reasearch prior to place another fish in the tank!!

Percs are VERY peaceful. Just because of name sake, doesn't guarantee anything.
Your tomato has agressive tendencies. The bigger he gets the worse he'll be. Not so with percs. I have had numerous percs & never had a problem.
After my speach, not much can be done for him. Return the perc, give him away or watch him die....You started the ball rolling. You decide the best choice.

Time will tell. Agressive fish are in their own categorie for a reason. They don't think, they just react to a someone in their territory. You said you did move rocks, right? Is it all lr? or ornaments? Try removing anything not living that is in the tank. That may give the aggressor some more space. Go to a local fish store. They sell plastic to slide in the tank. Maybe do this a couple days to give the little guy a chance to heal & eat. Start soaking HIS food in selcon. This is vitamin suppl. to get him healing faster. Maybe instead of a fish...get a qt started. That way the smae meany won't attack you next fish.

I wouldn't add any more fish for at least a month. You will mess with your bio load too much and crash your tank. See if your LFS will take the little guy back.

HAHAHA. I know you want to teach you big clown a lesson, but SH@t falls down the hill. You are going to cause a downhill effect to that poor little guy who did nothing wrong. We Have to separate the two clowns. When meany is out of the pic the little guy can heal. Or vicersa if the little guy is out of the pic, the big guy will go back to his cute adorable self.
Worst case, exchange the little guy. But being beat up, locals are less likely to take him back. Not much a sale factor for the little beat up guy.
All my experiences with the big meanys of my tank. The little guy ALWAYS died. I have a blue meany & have not placed any fish in my tank...cause i CAN'T! I have a second tank & am waiting for extra funds to populate it. He so stupid he nips at my puffer! I beg the puffer to take him out of his misery & won't!! I don't have the guts to take him out..perminently!

Mature Tomato Clowns usually do not tolerate other clowns. Often, they are best kept as a mated pair or alone. Tomato Clowns are reef safe.
This I took off another site. Like I said earlier...Always do research BEFORE buying.
It looks like you have no choice but to return or give the little guy away.
