Clownfish

My cute little clown fish that was brutually attacked, now has what my lfs says is a cyst. It is just this little bump on his side behind the first white stripe that has kinda faded color. The fs said that it would be okay and to leave it alone as long as it didn't turn into something else or grow very large. Do you guys agree, think that it is something different, should be treated? Please let me know, I have been trying very hard to make him happy and something else always pops up.

You should treat for secondary infection before it sets in. He's hurt and probably stressed. Do you have a hospital tank for him? I'd put him in there for a week or so,treat for infection. GOOD LUCK. STEVE

I would definately put him in a hospital tank if you can.
Any ailment can stress out a fish enough to cause them to get ick or another parasite.
Depending on how expensive the rest of your fish are, I might remove him regardless of what is affecting him, so as not to take a chance on infecting your other fish.

I had the same type of "bump" on my frenatus clown for days. I used "MelaFix" herbal tea tree oil. (Easy to find at any LFS, PetSmart, etc.) Within 2 hours, it started to shrink!

Thank you all for the wonderful help! Before any one could reply, the bump was already going down, and now is completely gone! But I think the cleaner shrimp might have helped a little. Thank you all again!

I guess sometimes it's good just to let them take care of themselves. After all, isnt that what we're all after. The perfect selfcontained ecosystem. STEVE
