Clowns and anenomes

I had two percula clowns but then one commited suicide ( I think, I found him in the filter media of my wet/dry built into the back of my tank) The one remaining swims at the top of the tank and doesn't go down in the water at all. I just got a new sebae hoping the clown would take to it but it hasn't. I have a humbug damsel and another brown damsel but they aren't aggressive. Is there a way I could coax the clown to play in the sebae?

Some clowns just don't like anemones. I had two false percs with a sebea anemone and they never even touched it. Your clown may like it in a while, sometimes it just takes some time before they finally go in it.

Sebae's aren't the "best" of host anemones. Primarily because they need tons of light and die 9.9 times out of 10. Anyone who can keep a sebae for over a year is a bonafide hero/saint in my book. They usually die within 7-30 days. (averagely in the 10 day area)
Also, there aren't a whole lot of clowns who will naturally go to it. I think false percs and sebaes. (the anemonefish tramp that will go to anything with some nematocysts and an oral disc ) I could be wrong, but I'm almost positive that they aren't typically host anemones.

just so you know, tank raised clowns usually don't go near anenomes. you need wild caught ones. that might be your problem.

I am not sure how accurate that statement is...may be the case, but I don't know about "usually."
I think the biggest issue is making sure that you get an anemone that is known to attract certain types of clowns. The symbiosis is dependent on that.
