clowns- black spots

greetings,
i wonder if anybody has had any experince with black spots on clowns. I have 3 clowns and about 3 months ago they all developed black spots that appeared to be under thier skin. Since that time 2 of the 3 have lost the spots but the largest one still has them. Other than the spots they seem to be fine. They all eat fine and show no strange behaviour.
I sent some pictures to a local dealer but they had no idea as to what it could be.
thanks :happyfish :help:

It's called hypermelanization. The cause is sometimes a bit of a mystery. Probably most commonly caused by contact with stinging cells of a coral. Does your clown host a colt coral or anything like that? It's typically harmless.
Search hypermelanization and you'll find more info.

I second that.
Check out the sticky in the disease forum. See if the picture there matches what your clowns have.

My clowns had those black spots as well during the introduction period in my reef tank. After a while they'll go away. Just like what uberlink have said, it's just like that. :happyfish
