clowns + devils

Newbie question. Im cycling my tank and i would never "flush" or even give back any fish that i bring in. So during my cycle i will only put in fish that i will keep. My question is if i get 1 clown and 1 blue devil damsel, will that be good enough for a cycle? Is it cruel not to get them in pairs means should i get 2 of each? p.s.- this is a FO 45gal. no LS or LR. Im cycling with raw shrimp. im only 4 days in the cycle. Is it to soon to get any fish? any info will greatly apprieciated.

Blue damsel will terrize the clown.

If you are cycling with raw shrimp I wouldnt put any fish in until cycle is complete that way you dont have to stress out ANY fish . From what I have learned from this site none fish is the most humain thing to do for a cycle, good luck,

as far as damsels go if I had it to do all over again...I would not use damsels to cycle..........I've got a damn domino and a devil blue that REFUSE to be captured(I've tried.....and tried...and tried).....these lil buggers are all folks claim them to be and then some.......GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR....but the domino has not become aggressive towards my other fish....YET

ok. If i do not use any fish to speed up the cycle, then how long with it take aproximately for my cycle to complete without using any LR or LS? In that case, should i add more than 2 shrimp in a 45gal?

JJSPATI, you can also use black mollies, they are brackish, but adapt to saltwater very easy.They are very hardy and are inexpensive.
