Clowns Fighting Could They Be 2 Females

HI I PURCHASED A PAIR OF PERCULA CLOWNS A FEW MONTHS AGO. THEY WERE PART OF THE LFS DISPLAY TANK AND I WAS TOLD THEY WERE A PAIR. THEY WERE NOT FULL GROWN CLOWNS. THE LFS TOLD ME HE HAD THEM FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. ANYWAY I LOST THE SMALLER CLOWN TO ICH. ( I ASSUME THE MALE. I WENT TO THE LFS AND BOUGHT ANOTHER CLOWN I DIDNT KNOW UNTIL NOW THAT I WASNT SUPPOSED TO BUY ONE OF THE SAME SIZE.THEY ARE IDDENTICAL IN SIZE.AT FIRST MY OLD CLOWN WAS BEING AGRESSIVE. DOING A LITTLE CHASING AND THIS WEIRD TWITCHING MOVEMENT. THE OTHER CLOWN WASNT EVEN BOTHERED. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WEEK . BUT YESTERDAY I SAW THE OLD CLOWN ATTACKING THE SIDE FIN OF THE NEW CLOWN. COULD IT BE THAT I HAVE 2 FEMALES. ALSO THE LFS TOLD ME THE NEW CLOWN WAS A TRADE IN . SO IM HOPING SINCE IT IS NOT LARGE THAT IT MAIGHT HAVE BEEN A MALE.IT HAS A BEAUTIFUL BRIGHT COLOR AND I DONT WANT TO GET RID OF IT.THE OLD ONE IS ANOTHER ISSUE. ITS MY SONS AND HE DOES NOT WANT TO PART W/IT EITHER.HOW LONG SHOULD I GIVE THEM BEFORE I KNOW THEY ARE BOTH FEMALES. THEY ARE NOT FIGHTING TO THE DEATH. THIS WAS THE FIRST REAL FIGHT. AND I HAVE NOT SEEN IT AGAIN.PLEASE:help:

how long has the chasing been going on?
can you tell us about the size of each?
do you mean nipping when you say attacking the side fin? and how does it attack?
where do both fish hang out? each has its corner or? do they sleep together?

they have been together for about 1 1/2 week.and the chasing has been going on from the start.its not really chasing its more like intimidating each other.one will swim fast next to the other and then stop and kind of spin its body while twitching at the same time.they are about an inch and a half or a little more.no it wasnt nipping he or she was fully attached with the side fin in his whole mouth. they were spining around in circles as this was going on.they hang out together during the day often doing their little charges.then at night they sleep seperate.at first only the old clown was being agressive now the other one is being a bit agressive too. not too much though.thanks hope this helps
