I have had 5 clows all keep dieing that i buy from the local bet store. But water is perfect. My corals and anemones are doing fine but my clowns do for about a week what could be happening
LOL ***** even worse a local store with alot of ick in tanks and not proper lighting. Set up for 2 1/2 mothes ammonia is .0 nitrates r about .15. T5 lighting 6 wats per gallon 20 gallon tank with 10 gallon sump.my corals and everything elese is fine. Camp home to put new frags in and clown is dead. BTW they r not tank bred
I would suggest not getting wild clowns for two reasons:
1)Clowns are easily breed in captivity and there are plenty tank raised clowns on the market. No need to take a clownfish from the ocean. Plus tank raised clowns readily adapt to a aquarium because they've lived in one their entire life
2) Wild Clowns have a poor survivability rate. It is estimated that 90% of captive clowns die en route from capture to distributors. Of those 90% it is estimated another 90% die. In the wild clowns cannot survive without an anemone. Imagine being taken from your family and home(clowns live in social groups in the wild). Add the polluted holding water from being shipped. This all causes stress. And stress causes dead fish. They do not easily readibly adapt to aquarium life.
i missed the test up LOL. the nitrates were 40 ppm. Which is bad i didn't look at the bottles close enuf i did a 20% water change. 40% of my water was in a friends tank before i got it pre cycled. I missed the test up yesterday as well.
Thank has ben set up for 2 1/2 month's and 2 bottles of Bio spira i put in it.
I am out of my own test kits right now. I ran out yesterday. The guy up at a new LPS i am going 2 start going 2 i took the water to him he tested it. Told me my only problem was my nitrates said all my other levels were fine ill go up there again and get exact numbers
