Clowns not surviving

2 fish

New Member
I recently added 2 Perculia clown to my 30gallon tank, 12kg live rock. The tank has been running for 8wks and my water is fine, SG 1.022, PH 8.1,Ammon 0 Trites 0, Trates 0 I even took the data I keep to my LFS to show them before I purchased my new additions, they were happy with what they saw, and told me 2 clowns would be fine as first fish in. I got them home and aclimatised them for about an hour and then slowly let them go using my hands as I have read this is the best method.I let no water from the LFS into the tank.Well with in hour one had died, and 2 days later the second one is now showing signs of fungus and I guess will not survive much longer. Have I done something wrong??? or were they already really stressed before I bought them home. I hate seeing this happen and am now very reluctant to add anything else until I can be sure this won't happen again.Any input will be greatly appreciated. : )

Looks like you did everything right I can't imagine that it was your fault if you did what you said. I would guess they were sick already and the added stress killed them. I would make sure that before you buy any more fish that whatever those fish have/had is out of your tank. Always make the LFS feed the fish before this is also an indication of illness because sick fish generally do not eat. HTH :(

I would say its the fish. Unless you had something fowl on your hands.
You didnt mention the temperatur. what was the temperature that day. it may have been to cold or to hot for them. do you have any kids maybe the kids did something.
if i where to put money on it i'd say its the fish. until you know its safe...you may want to save a few dollars and go with a bunch of demsels. they are normally halfe the price of clowns
good luck
