Does anyone have clowns without the anenome. I don't have the correct lighting for anenomes yet. Will clowns exist without one or should I return them? Any advice please

Clowns do NOT need an anemone to survive. Please do some research. Mine hosts a featherduster that is 3" away from an anemone.
I say do your research, not to be mean; but obviously you are new. An anemone needs an established tank not one set up last week or last month. The water quality needs to be good. If you are asking these questions, you AND your tank are not ready.

I've kept clowns without anemones for years. Generally, they'll just find some other spot to call their own.

If I was a Clown fish, I think I would be happier if I had an anemone....haha
Its true that clowns dont need an anemone to live long term and many keep them without one...They are pretty hardy and most are easy to keep in a proper system. If you want a Clown fish but cant keep an anemone, then dont let that stop you.
BUT, if you ever seen the relationship that they have with one then its something you want to have. Beautifull. Thats why I have them together....
Also as said, and as you seem to somewhat understand, much is needed to know about keeping an anemone and do please research them befor trying one.
