clowns

I've had a pair of orange skunk clowns for a little over a year now in a smaller reef tank and recently the smaller of the two has disappeared. Long story short, I have a 55g set up and I'm planning on transferring everything from my smaller tank into it soon, and coming up with a list of a lot more to put in it. Right now all I have is my clown and a watchman goby, along with 3 small corals and a few inverts. What I'm wondering is if I should try to buy another orange skunk and hope mine will pair up with it, or should I buy another pair of a different species? I know clowns can be aggressive towards conspecifics unless they are a pair so having three clowns would most likely be an issue, but I don't know if my clown would become aggressive if I tried adding another skunk in with him.

I have only had true pers but i had 1 and then tried adding one a couple of weeks later and it didn't work. The one that was in my tank which was a 55 terrorized the new guy to the point where he would have killed him. When i decided to take the new guy back he practically swam into the net it was the easiest fish i have ever caught because he wanted out. I don't know if it will work in a smaller tank in a big tank you might be able to get away with it. But again i have never had a skunk clown. Good luck with whatever you do.

Yeah, I'm just trying to see what would be better: add another skunk, or keep my skunk and add a new pair of a different species...

I have two Clarkii Clowns; I bought them at two seperate times. The first one that I bought is maybe an inch and a half, he was by himself for at least 4 months. I purchased him and he had my tank to himself for about another month. I just recently bought another Clarkii, much smaller. He chased it around for two days or so, and now they're inseperable. I think it just really depends on the fish!
