I just thought this was funny, even if it's a typical political race:
Right wing, left wing, chicken wing. Suddenly Nevada politics is all about chickens — bad news for the Republican Senate front-runner but a ray of hope for struggling Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid.
Sue Lowden recently suggested bartering with doctors for medical care — "our grandparents, they would bring a chicken to the doctor." The line from the millionaire casino executive and former beauty queen immediately became a late-night joke and YouTube sensation, and upended a GOP race that had been hers to lose.
Democrats set up a website, "Chickens for Checkups," and dispatched a volunteer in a chicken suit to one of her fundraisers. GOP rival Danny Tarkanian circulated a video of her comments and asked if she were the best candidate to take on Reid.

Trading chickens for health care would be a better system than what we have now.

Barter is awesome, but I will feel kind of annoyed if the Tea Party and GOP jump on the bandwagon since I have been laughed at on a few forums for even suggesting it by right-wingers. No doctors yet, but I am now bartering with my LFS and with a contractor for a tile job in my bathroom. Got to love sticking it to the "man".
Seriously though, I hope the GOP can start fielding some better canidates than this person and I bet she has never actually bartered anything in her life.

And you know this how? Typical liberal assuming to know everything about everyone

The government will always throw roadblock up to prevent bartering wherever they can. It cuts them out of their half of the pie. I am old enough to remember when they only took a slice

All I know Reef is I stand by what I said, this canidate is proof that the GOP needs to get some better canidates. I am going to have to assume that a person with this canidates background is not spending a lot of time down at the farmers market bartering with the people in her community. Are you really so desperate for a conservative win that you would honestly defend her statements and think someone like that is ready for office? Reid needs to go, no doubt about it, but lets replace him with someone better, not elected as a backlash any port in a storm canidate.
Yeah, it is always a lulz fest when you guys call me a lib, funny how I actual go further than most people to control my destiny on the amount of taxes I pay to the government through barter and coming soon a big reduction in property tax when I officially become a farm. You guys keep looking for that birth certificate though. LOL

I guess the laughing smiley was lost on you
As far a the candidate I don't know a thing about her but I am not going to assume she's an idiot based on her saying people used to pay a doctor in chickens, they did.

Yeah I saw the smiley, I am just a little pissy by the lack of people on either side that seem like good people yet again. Sorry, I do enjoy the discussions here and pretty friendly attitudes despite differences and need less attitude. Another forum I visit has open warfare in the politics forum and it sucks and has ruined things.

Some people take themselves way too seriously. For the most part this place is pretty laid back which makes the banter really enjoyable. Heck, I've seen families torn apart over political views which is pretty sad.

I to will second this. For the most part, minus a handful of random posters, it is as civil as a political forum can be...
