collecting my own sand for FOWLR

hey guys,
im not sure where to put this but since my new tank will be a fowlr ill put it here. So i am in the middle of setting up my new tank and i live so close to the ocean i was wondering if i it would be ok if i just got some sand from my local reefs. i have heard thet there are a lot risks doing this so i want to make sure its safe before i do it. any input is welcome, thanks!

I think it's fine if you are getting the sand from a healthy reef. I would not collect from shore. I do not know if it's legal so you might want to look that up for your area.

thankyou! the reef is pretty healthy i catch a lot of fish that i eat there. i have done the reaserch for my area and it is legal to collect sand just not lr.
