Color of Acrylic

I am in the process of designing a new W/D filter for my 55 and wanted to know if having clear acrylic had any real benefits. My stand isn't quite tall enough for a good sump setup so I have to have it out in the open. I can get black acrylic for the same price and thought it would look better. Provided I keep it clean...
Any thoughts?

It is easier to see the water level in the sump if it is clear acrylic. Other than that, it is really personal preference.
