Colt soft Coral

I bought a Colt soft coral and when it arrived it had what looks to be a piece of a shell stuck to the bottom of is there anyway to get that off so i can put it on my rocks, it dosent sit well with that piece on there any help would be great.

Do you have a picture of it? Would be easier to help if we could see how big it is. It should be easy enough to just cut away with a razor blade. Colts heal quickly and will grow polyps in the cut area.
