180 is a great choice for a tank. By the best skimmer you can I would do something like a ASM-G4. For A filter i would use a sump/fuge with chato. 200lbs of live rock. Do you plan on haveing a bare bottom or useing live sand?

i have a grey and ia lso used to have him in a 205 and beleive me he got HUGE in just 6 months! big enough that he would have been too big for the 180...
in other words if you can i would just go bigger now rather than have to upgrade later
also you need a skimmer for at least double your tankw ith these messy eats, i also run big sump and big refugium as well

Psuscr1 did you hatch yours? how long did it take to start eating after you got it? I decided to get another bamboo and hes about 2 weeks old now and still not eating on his own i have to force feed him. ive never had this problem before all my sharks just eat on there own.

Im also haveing a problem getting him out of his cave even at night he wont do much.
do you think it could be my lights? i have a HO light as my moonlight it is very bright could that cause him not to comeout? currently he is in my display tank untill he gets big enough to go into the pond.

actually i was fortunate enough that i got mys hark at around 12" and he ate for me first thing! he loves his food!!
when i just got my shark he didnt come out much either but as they grow they get bolder and bolder and do what they want and swim freely alot. Also make sure he has alot ofr oom in the cave and two caves. The two caves will entice him to move from one cave to another when he gets bored, or feels uncomfortable in the other cave.
as far as the lights yes, my shark loves when it is pitch black with only blue l.e.ds for his moonlights
