Community Tank

I am currently cycling my 65 Gallon Tank with Yellow Tailed Damsels. I have a protein skimmer, wet/dry, canister, and uv sterilizer. When finished I want to build the following fish community (obviously introduce the fish over time). I have been told that I should not put these fish in the same tank and that my tank is too small. Please give me advice, thanks!!!
1 Dwarf Angel (Probably Coral Beauty)
1 Full Angel (Probably Passer or Emporer)
1 Butterfly (Probably Raccoon or Long Nose)
1 Tang (Probably Powder Blue)
1 Trigger (Probably Picasso)
...and I might add one flame hawk or a few Banggai Cardinals.
Is this too many fish for my 65 Gallon? I really love the Picasso Trigger, but was told to probably not put him in with the others. Please give me advice. Thanks again!!!

I would not mix all the fish you have stated above in the same tank. A 65 is to small for all of them. If you want a lot of fish in the tank stay away from the trigger. If you are ok with only 1 or 2 fish you could go with the trigger and some other tankmate if you wanted.

i dont think you can put a full sized angel in a 65. also you have alot of fish total for a 65 gallon tank.

I agree your tank is too small for the fish you want to put in it. the trigger and the full size angle are not going to work. they will get to big for your 65. Good luck

ok, then how about a dwarf angel (coral beauty), tang (powder blue), and butterfly (long nose), and maybe 1 other smaller fish like gramma or dottyback?

That mix may work. You will find a lot of folks telling you that all Tangs need more space but you should be okay , at least in the short run. If the Tang gets too large for the tank you will have to address the situation. A word of warning though, Powder Blue Tangs are difficult fish to maintain. They need a constant food supply and they are prone to Ick and other parasitic diseases. Maybe if you substituted a Clown for the Tang you would be better off. Good luck.

tangs alone need a 75 gall. just to let you know plus they are very teratorial.

Well, to be truthful, I think you need to do some serious reading. You will be overcrowding the tank with that many fish. Seems to me that you are rather new to the saltwater hobby and it is not at all like freshwater as saltwater fish need much more room. I would suggest that you get some books and read up on how to care for saltwater fish. I am getting 2 tangs in my 180 but I would only suggest a sailfin tang for a 65 gallon although, I believe they need a 75 gallon or more. You will eventually have to get a bigger tank. Avoid aggressive triggers as they will kill any small fish that are small enough to fit into their mouth. Also, you are choosing hard fish to care for and if you are new I would suggest you go with more hardy species. Just my opinion, though. You must learn about overcrowding tanks, though. It is a big killer of salwater fish. How about a coral beauty, a royal gramma, a six line wrasse, and possibly the Butterfly. However Butterflies are rather difficult to keep for beginners so it may not be wise. Also, I believe they like to have quite a bit of space.
