compact strip lighting???

I am purchasing a 46 gal bow front from all glass on Saturday. I have recently been informed by the lfs that compact strip lighting is the way to go. Can anyone tell me if it is good lighting for someone who can afford to make a crazy system on their own. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Bosco, from what I've read, the VHO (very high output) flourescents are the way to go unless you're wanting sps, clams and hard corals, then metal halides are better. If I'm wrong, someone correct me, please!

I tink VHO are the best bulbs for a small tank. Sure, compacts are good and work but, I think VHO look better and in my experience corals grow better under VHO. If you can afford them I think they are the way to go. On a 46 gallon bow, I would put 3 36" and one 24". With this setup you can put the 24 in the front. I personally would run 2 50/50 and 2 actinic. With that setup your tank will be kinda blueish. If you want more white you could go with a 2 10k and 2 actinic. Me? I would use a 24" and a 36" 10k and then 2 36". The total output would be around 7-8 watts per gallon. Not that it means anything though.
They are more expensive than compacts but I think well worth the money..... :)
