here is the story - I order a pair of mated maroon clowns from on- line. The female did not make it. They are going to replace her with another female. What are the odds this new female will be ok with the existing male?

50/50. That's kinda crappy actually. I'm sure you payed extra for a mated pair and now they are going to give you an unmated pair?! The clown will either fight with the other and decide he likes it or kill it. Good luck.

I paid $93.00 for the mated pair, they said I could get $20.00 store credit or another fish to replace the clown. I really couldn't see paying $93.00 for one little maroon clown, so I am going to try it and pray they get along.

POed isn't even close right now. I figure in the end I will have paid that much and only one little fish left. Expensive little bugger, it better live forever!!
Just wondering has anyone else tried this and had any luck?

I would tell them you want to return the remaining clown and get another mated pair...if you trust them to do that.

I agree with JJ. See if you can return it and get a new pair. Sorry you got so unlucky. Besides a 20.00 credit?!!! You paid extra for a mated pair so I would think the one you got should be less than half the price of the pair. Get on the phone and try and bargain with them. Tell them you are in reef clubs/message boards and a good resolution for you would be good marketing for them. That's how I get what I want when I'm not satisfied. Just imply that you will tell everyone in your club/message board who gave you what kind of treatment and who to avoid. HTH GL

Well, the new female has arrived. She is twice as big as the last one and they shipped her much better in a very large bag. She is now in the tank with the male. As of yet (a whopping 2 hrs) there has not been any fighting. She really hasn't explored the whole tank yet, somewhat keeping to one side. so far so good! I'm praying this will last.:)

Sorry, I wrote all that and forgot to ask my question!
How long should I leave the lights out? I am going for no stress to her right now. They have been out for 3 hours, 1 during acclimation and 2 since she was released.
