Logan....recently you've posted a lot of questions and remarks in regard to promoting the idea of a "tank of the month"...I really don't see where all this concern is coming from.
What exactly is it you'd like to see? How would you suggest this idea be developed? Present a complete format/out-line for your idea and as a moderator I'll look into the concept. But I really don't see the need or support for your idea....some places have them....and they seem to work ok...but the management and monitoring would likely be a major nightmare...and I'm not sure our host would support the idea.
So instead of constantly throwing the idea around like a worn out rag doll...present your plan....we'll see where it goes.

Well, i agree with Nm reef. All this is happening very fast. But if your host wont agree to this, we could always go too geocities or something.
As for the management, i would more then happy too dedicate some of my freetime into this. But this would probaly fall into the hands of the sharks, and probaly wont happen.

The same people would win over and over and over, and they all have SPS tanks........steveweast, 64 Ivy, bigmac, etc.......pretty much the same people that win on other boards that have the tank of the month. We are working on a contest right now that isn't tank of the month, so that isn't on the top of the list.

If you read the other posts I have for the tank of the month Idea there is numerous reply's supporting the idea and how good of an idea it would be.
I think that by having different kinds of tanks of the month each month everyone would get a chance such as one month "invert tank of the month and the next Nano tank of the month and then a large tank of the month and then maybe a SPS tank of the month and then a Newly made tank of the month and then maybe a LPS tank of the month and a Fish Only tank of the month. Then no one needs to switch around their tank or feel like their tank isn't good enough because everyone will get a chance the only thing that can come from this is idea exchanging tips and ideas and constructive criticism and to help each other out on their tanks.
The tank of the month could go on my website so that we don't have to add another page on the board and to save the host money and bandwidth. This would be a great way to award everyone for their presistance and love of the hobby. Each month on the board will vote and that way no single people or groups will be voting the whole board will so it will fair. If anything I think we should try this out for a month and see how it goes and if you don't like how it goes then delete the idea. Give it a shot what bad can come from this??Me being 15 I don't get jealous of other tanks such as bang guys or some of the other mods and we all know kids turn everything into a competition. This will be a great idea. If anyone doubts the support go to Tank Of The Month And Read Some Of The Reply's.
I think once you see the idea working and see the good it does and if it doesn't don't have it again I think that it would be good for everyone to join in and to be part of the greatest message board ever!!!! If you want I could even do the pics and poll on my website.
By posting pics members could figure out about other people's equipment, additives, corals, fish and what their experiences are with each of them.They could also show off fish/corals/inverts/ and equipment they get from saltwaterfish.com the best site ever and most reliable.
Please Really Think About How Great This Could Be At Least Just Try It Once. If It dosent work, no more.

I think instead of a tank of the month it should be something like a featured tank. listing the specs of the tank and inhabitants etc. each week or month somebody new would be choosen of the ones that wanted to particapate. and they would do a write up on the tank with photos etc.. that would be a sticky or something.
the best way that I can think of doing something like this would be to compile a list of people that would be willling to do this and number them 1- whatever all the way to the end of the list. the list could grow daily without a problem with new additions being added at the end of the list with the numbers growing. the numbering would be by the order the agreed to participate. and each week or month the next person would do there write up and it would change the sticky. The members could be notified a few days or weeks depending on the length of it. and they would have a chance to decline in which case the could go back to the bottom of the list for a future date for their write-up.
I think a tank of the month is a little to competeive for the newest tank owners that are still working to get there tank to what they want. but still want to participate.
the write up would/could include what their plans are for the tank and what they are planning on upgrading in the future and what they are wanting to upgrade to.

MichaelTX, I like your idea better........that way everyone can join in. In any case where there is a "tank of anything", it would be the mods choice, and public vote won't happen. This is the way on most any board, and there is good reason for it. Seriously though, we do have a new contest about to come out, and ryebread is heading it.....one thing at a time. I won't comment since the upcoming contest is Ryebreads baby, and I'll let him explain it when he has it ready. It's pretty doubtful that a tank of the month will happen anytime soon. Anyone fimiliar with a certain major board that does that, may also notice that they repeat winners rather than give lesser tanks a chance........"featured tank of the month" sounds a little better to me personally, and it could be anyones tank, but we are working on something else at the moment.

I like the feature idea as well. It is not a contest no competion and it is a good way for all to get a good look at peoples tanks and there setups.

a little over a year ago, we had a member who was banned, for pushing his ideas and actually soliciting members to get his 'things' going. Although free and not any direct competition for swf, it did lead to a ban b/c he too would not follow the appropriate steps and listen to the rules. Soliciting is against the rules, even if you are not soliciting for money.
I would be very careful in how you decide proceed, form this point(you actually could harm the work you have done). I understand that you had emailed admin asking for permission, What I would do(if anything at this point) is:
Wait for their response,and no matter the answer you get, I would follow and listen to it. And DEFINTIELY NOT try to start an issue over it, citing the responses recieved and the results of your polls. If it goes good great, if not, then it is their decision and if for no other reason than respect for our sponsors, who allow us to use this space FREE of CHARGE AND OBLIGATION, We should HONOR AND RESPECT their decision.
No different than if you go to someones house and tehy ask you to not spit on their floor, you should follow their house rules.
As well, to keep posting polls, to use as arguements, is definitely not going to get you anywhere with anyone in life, in fact I am quite surprised that this was left to go this long.
