Compression Fitting

My question is should I use a compression fitting directly under the overflow box and into the fixed pvc that runs to the filter or should I just hard plum the whole thing? I was thinking of the compression fitting in the event that I ever need to replace the overflow box

Well Mr Salty I would have loved to except I I can't fine any 1 1/2 in ID flexible hosing. None at Home Depot or Lowe's. I have a CPR model CS150 (used) and it has a threaded piece of pvc that had a piece of 1 1/2" pvc glued in it. I had to cut it off because it had a "T" connector that I didn't need. If I could find a piece of pvc that starts as threded (the same that is in there now) and reduces to 1 1/4" or 1" then I could put some flexible tubing in correct? But will that effect the water flow? I understand that the overflow has a flow rate of 1400 gph. Thanks.

Try looking at a pool supply store. They have a corragated hose to hook up pool filters. This is what my overflow has on it.But I think mine is 1 1/4".They should have the right stuff for you .

Thanks Mr Salty I haven't tried going there. If I use flex tubing will it make much more noise than fixed plumbing? I'm setting this thing up in my living room. :)

Reefranger, will it make any more noise using flexible tubing than using pvc tubing? It doesn't seem like it should but I'm just curious. Thanks.

Not really sure if the flex is quieter, but common sence tells me that smooth walled hose would let the water flow mor easily and maybe quieter. But the airation that the courogated hose adds is benifitial.Mine is not all that noisey. It will probably be VERY noisey at first, but as the air works it's way out of these tubes it will quiet down.
