Compromise - Thanksgiving Tank!

Originally I was going to wait for Christmas to set up my first horse tank and then my impatience kicked in and I started forging ahead and thinking I'd have some for Halloween but now I'm guessing that End of November/Early December is a reasonable expectation for my first pair of horses. I purchased a 46 gallon bowfront last night and will be on the hunt for a stand to go with it today (LFS didn't have the stand). Then I can get water in there, start adding sand and LR and get the cycle going.
I'm thinking this is where I should start my "progression" thread for anyone interested in tagging along - is that ok? I'll take pix from beginning to end and post them on here, or should I put something like that in another category/forum?

Thanks Teresa... I want very much to have live plants in there but haven't gotten to do the research on that yet. Since I'm going to keep the very basic lighting that came with the tank (since SH's don't need or want extreme lighting) I didn't know how well live plants would do under those conditions. I want to aquascape the tank with as many different kinds of hitching posts as I can - please pass on any suggestions you have, whether they be live or dead. I'm probably going to try to stay away from plastic since I imagine that gets grungy and tacky-looking?
This is SO exciting!

pic-TURES! pic-TURES!

I know, too early to start snapping pics...I'm just excited for you!
...And yes, fake plants get grungy after a while. You can take 'em out and wash them periodically (no soap, obviously) but if you can find good macroalgae and live plants you'll be better off. I've got a combo of live and fake in mine, and I have to wash the fake about every month.

Awwwwwww, you guys are awesome and SUCH a good support system! I love the camaraderie that's so strong on this forum.
First pix will come probably Sunday when I put the empty CLEANED tank on the new CLEANED stand. It was the floor model at the LFS so I've got the stand in the garage till I can clean it thoroughly. Dust is good, though, I was able to get it 2/3rd's of the original price because I kept complaining to the manager about how dusty and grungy and "used" the stand looked.
The price tag on it was $299 and I told him I was going to look online instead because that was too pricey. He went down to $250. When I examined it more closely and pointed out the cleaning I would have to do and a tiny nick in it, he went down to $200. Dust is my friend.

Thanks for tagging along with me - I'll try to make it worth your while.

yeah, what's this "sunday" business? Hmph.

So what kind of stand did it come with, an open style or a closed? Just wondering if you can hide a small sump down there in the future....hey, they say planning ahead is good, right?

Thought about buying used but since this is my first real sw tank and since it will be home to very delicate seahorses, I don't want to take ANY chances - I'm going new just to be safe.
Maybe the next tank will be used, but the idea just scares me at this point.

I turned down many a stand in the past few days simply because they were open style. I insisted it had to be totally closed so I could hide stuff under there (canister filter, future sump, supplies, etc.)
Do you think I've learned nothing from you? I HAVE been paying attention.
