Computer Fans

I have a 36L x 18D x 12H canopy with two 120mm fans on each side. I have them hooked up to my Power supply from my old pc and they blow like crazy and very quite. My question is should both fans on each side flow are in the same direction or have one blow out and one blow in on onside and the other do the same or one side blows both out and the other side blows both in? Has anyone else using pc fans.

I would have them both blow out that way you don't have either blowing in and getting dust in the tank. As long as there is a way from air to get in. If you are trying to use one to cool the water then that's different.

i also use computer fans on my 90 reef. they are a great fan for the size. i have them blowing in the same direction one blows cooler air in and the other blows the hot air in the hood out. (have a filter on the fan that blows air in so like said above dust cant get in)
if you also need a way to drop your temp in our tank. take a clipon desk fan(i have a vornado fan) and put it blowing over your sump, if you have one. it brough my tank down 4 degrees.

so to do this u need a computer power supply, and the fans...anything else?? any circuit board type stuff??

Thata what i was thinking. The power supply usuallu has to be turned on by turning on the complete computer system. I was wondering how i can fix this so the Power supply comes on. When you get the fans, you want to make sure they fit the plug in on the Power supply. No circuit board or anything. I'll post some pics of the P/S to show you what i meant. I found the fans in a four package deal with the plug in to fit the Power supply and are the 120mm all for like 20 bucks on ----.

I tried my Power supply and it doesn't turn on w/o the pc connected to it. Does anyone know how to fix the Power supply to run with/out the pc hookup?

the fans should have 2 wires coming from it, one red and one black wire or two black wires. find an old/unused 12v AC adapter and cut the cord, solder the wires to the adapter and plug in.

I was able to by pass the 24pin connector and found the two cords that were needed to turn the Power supply on. I hooked up all 4 120mm fans and this is a lot better then some of those fans other people sell.
