get more bandwidth. Your probably running dial-up and that's suicide enough for any online game.

yeap. wanna play games online... get cable!
I get all the cable channels and cable internet for the low monthly price of 96$ per month.
Seems high, but its worth it to not get kicked off the net when youre right in the middle of something important, or not important for that matter.

Have to beg to differ but the top five things you need for a computer; especially when you have a continous connection are:
1 AntiVirus to stop viruses, trojans, worms, etc
2 Firewall to stop unneeded outgoing and incoming connections
3 Spyware software to stop spytracking software and cookies
4 Maintenance Software to keep everything running smoothly
5 Spam Guard to protect remotely accessed email accounts
All can be broken but it is better to have then to have nothing to protect your assets. Plus aarone you put hacker under your hobbies. Hmmm.

1 dont download conspicuous files or stupid "free" software...dont open odd emails with attachments....turn off the preview in your mail program
2 block all the ports that are commonly used for non websurfing purposes...
3 Referr to numero uno
4 just defrag and you will stay cool
5 make a complex email address consisting of numbers letters and nothing easily guessable....oh and always have a webmail acount for commercial "shopping on line" and other mailing lists etc. etc. Keep the home for personal communication with trusted people...
Yes not alot of people are able to by pass the free bikini flyswatter screen saver of joy programs......but stay away from stupid stuff and you will be ok....its easy to be hacked....its easier to be secure :)  :joy:

I like those ideas, unfortunately, most people do not follow those guidelines on a normal basis. I have the hardest trouble getting my friends to surf the net responsible. I seem to have to fix their computers on a basis because of that. I agree with you but for some those five programs simplify the problem to a point they can keep themselves out of trouble. Personally I do use some of your ideas like the dual emails and avoiding untrusted software. But with the firewall I found it was more to keep programs from autoupdating and bogging the internet connection then to keep people out.

true true...but those are easily fixed within those programs....
which firewall do you run?

Oooo mannn lets not get started on this computer thang.
There are enough forums with this crap here, no need to bring
it into the fish world

P.S. Zonealarm is a good way to go. Also redoing some of the Windows security features

But some computer supplies make an excellent addition to a saltwater tank. Just think Emergemncy power supply for the power outages.

Yeah, and cold cathode lights, if wired to the right 12volt power block, make excellent moon lights. So long as you keep them away from the heat.
ps. zonealarm does suck.

Yea, but i didnt start my Reef aquarium to mod out with computer parts. If i wanted to look at all the fancy coling fans, Baybus, and lights up the ass i'd look at my computer instead.
Blackomne- that would be interesting to see what blue cathodes look look over the aquarium.
Using an old power supply makes a great source of power for computer fans attached to light hoods and w/e assorted PC ---- you might intend.
PS. Black Ice sux, so says anyone with computer knowledge.
