computer virus help?

Anybody know anything about a virus called Sality? I did a little research and I think I've gotten rid of it just by going into safe mode and running a virus scan. Anyway, the scan detected over 1,000 instances of it on my computer and either deleted or repaired all of them. Has anybody heard anything about this? Its scary to know that in can infect so many files within such a short period of time. :scared:

What anti virus do you use? I use AVG antivirus. It is made by Grisoft. You can download it for free off the net and it seems to work pretty good, for me anyway.

Thanks Dragon, thats where I got my info too. I followed those steps to remove it and I think I have kicked it. Just curious if anyone could "translate" what the rest of that info means.

you should have at least 3 programs to clean out your computer not one will get rid of everything, i use avg (paid version) ad aware, and spy bot killer and my laptop works great, vever had a problem
also do your windows update often

I run adaware and spybot as well. this is the first time I've had a problem. Thats why I ask. I like to think I protect my computer, and I've gotten rid of this problem, but I can't find a lot of information about this specific problem.
I appreciate all the help, but I was hoping there were some IT type people here who may be able to give me some information on this virus. I've gotten some advice from my IT people at work, but I was looking for a second opinion (once you say the words "home computer" to my IT people, they seem to lose a little interest).
