concers on algae in my fuge....

now that im ahead of the algae race, i dont want to get behind!
in my fuge i have a clump of algae that floats to the top. it's starting to look like pond scum. is this alright? should i sink it in the fuge with a rock?
my light in the fuge was on all the time untill 2 days ago. i started running it during the day(6am-9pm)
just dont want to have problems. any input?

push it down in the water once and a while. or increase flow across it if possible. also IMO run your fuge light opposite of your DT lights. DT on during the day and refuge at night. your PH will stay higher doing this and you will export more nutrients from your water as well.
