Conch eating a snail! What is it?!

I have had this conch for several months now. I have certainly lost some snails over that time, but was not aware that this guy might be eating them. Here is a picture. Anyone know what this conch is and if he is supposed to be reef safe? I found him on top of a powerhead like this, so he must have caught a live snail up there. He looks like he is trying to eat the whole thing, shell and all.
...okay, my computer won't let me upload the picture for some reason. The conch is grey, green and purple striped. He just let go of the snail shell. Hermit crabs are all over the snail shell, so I guess it is now dead.

I know there is a carnivorous conch, dont know the name though.

does it have spikes like a crown. Look up king crown conch.

^i hade a crown, ate a bunch of snails and my lettuce nuddy....before i realized he was the culprit.
