I am thinking of geting a Bubble Coral. What are the conditions required, lighting flow etc?

Bubbles are fairly hardy and, as stated, require meaty foods to thrive. Be careful where you put it though because they are aggressive and they can get pretty big, mine is about the size of my head(and I have a big head):D

OMG, Iechy!! Do you have any pics of this monster??
Also, how far do its sweeper tentacles go out? I know not to put it close to any neighbors... but how far? Maybe 3"??
hkgar... sorry if I'm intruding on your thread... if you're considering a bubble, then hopefully you're getting some needed info too?

I would go more than three inches. At least 6 inches. If you feed them they will triple their sizr in a couple of months. In my tank I have seen my bubble "reach out and touch" a pesky rock anenomie about 4 or five inches awy from the outer edge of the bubbles. Needles to say it fried the anenomie.

LOL, not sure Jon. I've been cruising all over the place doing my research. There are several sites I've been frequenting. If you're interested, you can e-mail me and I'll give you the site info.
That IS a gorgeous pink bubble, isn't it??

Yeah go about 5-6 inches. The pic below is few months old and like MLM said it has grown really fast. The torch that is close to it in the pic has been fighting it out with the bubble this week and has been losing. One of the branches on the torch hasn't been opening up fully so it is going to be relocated tomorrow. I'll try and get some new pics this weekend.

Just bought a bubble a couple weeks ago. How do you guys feed them? Do you just put the food by the mouth and then keep you hand nearby to fend off sneaky fish??

As for my pearl bubble I feed two or three of his mouths by hand. He opens up a little bit when he knows I am trying to feed him. As for my bubble, his mouth is so fricking big I can feed a decent sized silverside (whole) without cutting it up. I just stick my hand in there and feed both of them. Luckily I have not been stung by either.

I've kept a green metalic bubble for about 18 months now....origionally it was about the size of a baseball when fully extended...now its closer to the size of a football. At least once a week I direct feed with any of a number of meaty type foods(mysis/Prime Reef/krill/sliversides)...mine seems to prefer a mild/moderate current and sits mid-way up my reef under 4x65 watts of 10k PC & 2x110 watts of uri super actinic. I've seen sweeper tentacles reach around 4"-6" in length.....both my torch and bubble tend to be a touch agressive.
Here are a few pics of mine:

My green brain and my pearl bubble have been my water quality indicators recently. (Yes yes, besides tests) Now that I see everyone else's pics... I see mine are just fine. I hate my LFS. They know nothing. I wondered what the deal was, especially cause my water was fine. Dang them. Dang them all. :D
