confused about lighting

I want to upgrade to either VHO or PC lighting, and I am confused
Currently on my 125 I have a single light strip that has a 50/50 coralife bulb that has only 40 watts.
So, I am looking at my catalogs & when you look at the bulbs that are sold for VHO or PC, what does 10,000K mean on a 96 watt bulb? Does that mean how many hours it will last or does it mean that's how intense the light is?
I hope I made my question clear, because I don't even know what I'm trying to ask

Well the 10000K does not stand for how many hours the light will last. The K stands for a measurement of degree Kelvin. The more towards the yellow and red part of the spectrum the lower the Kelvin number the more towards the blue part the higher the number. Hope this helps a little. :)
