Confused LFS

After reading online and getting ALOT of helpful info I decided to call one of the small family owned LSF and a well-to-do LFS that specializes in Salt Water Fish and Corals. I called the Well-to-do Place first and questioned them on treating Ich and they replied that I should put the diseased fish in a QT tank and add a cleaner Wrasse and drop Salinity to only 1.020. After hanging up with them I called the little shop and asked how they treat Ich and they replied by saying placing them fish in a QT tank and medicate it with one of those "magical" substances. I went and head and asked about lowering the salinity and the lady freaked out. Went on and on about never hearing that and blah blah blah. But of course this was the same lady who we bought a few snails from and dropped that bag and everything in it on the ground. Soooo.... I had a good laugh after hanging up. Maybe that is another factor as to why it is so important to quarintine fish after purchase. The fish can still be carriers of the parasite even if there are no visable signs and what not. Thought ya'll like to know. <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" />

Thanks for sharing. :) Yea, it takes a while for information to filter out to all the LFS owners and employees sometimes. I bet though if there was some sort of commercial product on the market where you add it to the tank to make the salinity drop to 1.20 (or 1.10 even better), then they would learn about the hyposalinity treatment process much more quickly.
