I have an overflow box and need to connect 1" vinyl tubing to the bulkhead on the bottom. The bulkhead is not threaded. How do I attach the tubing making sure a tight seal is formed?

Sounds like you have a slip bulkhead. You will need pvc primer and cement, coat with the primer, coat with the cement, push the pvc pipe into the bulkhead and give a 1/4 twist, this stuff will set fast. You can actually run water through it in other applications in 5 minutes, but for your aquarium wait 30 min to an hour.

if your using vinyl tubing,you'll need
to get a small piece of pvc pipe,glue
it in place,then glue a female adapter
to the pipe,then silicone a male
thread x hose barb to it,place tubing
on hose barb,clamp in place. viola!
