Constipation

No, No not me.....I have been treating my tank for ich and everyone has been doing well. Last week I noticed that my Singapore Angel was no longer eating. He would swim near the food but would not even try to eat. I was getting pretty worried. Yesterday, he began to eat:D Today, I notice a big chunk of "poop" stuck in his bung hole. He has been constipated before. What do I do about it, if anything? Is this normal to have constipated fish? I feed a flake and Spectrum pellets and formula 2.

Sorry to say, but that is not really a very good diet for an angel. Try adding some SeaWeed Selects algae sheets to that diet and also some real meat---either frozen or fresh. Try using a quality vitimin like Zoecon a few times a week, soaking it in the food for 20 mins before offering it.

Thanks, I will try a new diet for him. So you think that the poor diet is contributing to the constipation?

Its not that unusal for fish feces to string along behind occassionally. If the fish is otherwise healthy I would not be concerned. However, do think about an improved fish diet. With the web at your fingertips, you might want to do some specific study on the fish you have to see if they have any particualar dietary needs that you can easly address.

First of all, Singapores have a tendency to be tough fish!
Hikari makes an angel diet that I've had success with. I've had even greater success with Ocean Nutrition's Angel Diet frozen cubes. Lots of sponge and other angel likes! I like to slow release a couple of cubes of spirulina enriched brine, a couple of mysis, a mega marine (Hikari), and an angel formula cube for my heavier evening feedings.
