Im buying a used 55gal tenecor bow front.. I am also getting 100lbs of LS and probably about 50 dry. The tank is currently set up with 3" CC and there are 2 convict blennies pusshing it all around.. are these guys good for a DSB or should I dump them in my other 55gal with CC?..?

let me correct myself.. Its not a convict blenny.. fish did not comeout very much since they were under the LR.. but she did say it was a "convict fish" Im not familiar with it. but she said it was black and white vertical stripes.. I looked at the pictures online and its not a convict blenny.. any other "convict fish"??

I may be mistaken but a convict blenny is also the same as an enginer goby ?...as a juv. they look very much like a corol cat w/ no whiskers..as an adult the white stripes change to a much different pattern, and if they are the same I have had an enginer for about 1 yr.. loves the sand, likes to take mouthfuls and rearrange the tank..pretty interesting

Im not sure.. what little I saw of the fish I saw a few whiskers.. very obvious dorsal fins and vertical stripes.. It really looked alot like a snowflake eel.. and the lady even mentioned the word eel.. but its not an eel.. I need to call her and make sure. I know the fish is easy to take care of but I want to find out what it is.. Im not to concerned about it because Im am setting the tank up just like she has it and all the fish have been together for over a year. but I'd like to know more about it. Im setting it up as a DSB instead of CC.. and Ill be adding some coral's later on. I just want to know if the fish will do better in a reeftank with an eel.. or in my 55-long that Im putting my aggresive fish into.
I need more info from the person who has the fish.. ..

you might want to buy or go to the library or your lfs could have a copy of marine fishes by scott w. micheal..great book and all of us should have a copy, although the pic in here..( of a convict blenny) is of a juv.w/ its stripes horizontal, but as it matures stripes are vertical and wavey like..everyone who seen mine at first says wow theres an eel in there..they are very hardy and suggest you make sure your rocks are on bottom of the tank, otherwise the "worm" will dig underneath and could cause an avalanche..I had mine in a cc tank for a while then changed over to a dsb and its personality tripled..good luck
