Cooling water temp!

I have a 90gal reef with 440w worth of vho's, my tank has been fluctuating between 81 and 84.5. I currently do not use glass tops because it holds in the heat and there is really no room in the canaopy for one of the 4"cooling fans. I have tried keeping the house temp down but when the tank lights are on for more then 6hrs the water temp really goes up, any suggestions to keep the tank cool without buying a water chiller? My canopy also has open slats in the top to release heat. So far I only have a clean up crew and 2 perc clowns in the tank. Any suggestions would be great!

how far off the water do you have the lights???? With VHO's you should have them far enough that fitting a fan shouldnt be a problem. Even if you need to sneak it in the back.
Another option as Kip or Bang mentioned in another thread is to put a fan over your sump which may help.

My lights are approx 4" to 5" off the top of the water, I am going to go to home depot and walmart to see if I can find a small fan that I can attach to the back of the tank or under the stand blowing on the water surface of the sump. If I anyone has any other Ideas I would love to hear them. Thanks

This probably won't help you, but we actually had to move our tank to another room. We had it in a playroom, and the temp stayed too high while we were cycling, so we moved it to the living room and its fine. A heater is all we need. It was a PAIN to move ours, which was a 55, so I'm sure yours would be twice as hard, but we had to move it or risk losing the fish once we put 'em in.
Hopefully your fan will do the trick!
