Copods?

Since I have got the six-line wrasse he has had his way with most of the copods that were crawling on the glass and rocks. Now these white swirl type things have started taking over some parts of the tank. They are small but getting bigger, and are hard to scrape off of the glass. What are these and are they helpful to have?

Sounds like tiny feather dusters. There is a very small version that uses a calcium tube formed in tiny circles. They are harmless filter feeders.
