Copper in the Sand******

Hey, i had a 30 gallon set up a while ago and had to break it down cuz my parents didnt like it...anyway, I had an ich outbreak and used copper. I remove the copper from the tank, but i ehar traces live in the silicone. BUT, does it stay in the sand as well? The sand has long since dried up and I want to use that to jumpstart my upcoming 10 gallon nano. I basically just brought the tank into the basement and just let it dry up. The sand in there is also the bottom layer of sand since i used half of it for somewhere else. So would it be a huge risk, or will I be okay? Thanx

being a metal, copper will not evaporate off. it will still be in the sand. how much is the question. i wouldnt chance it if you want inverts IMO.

I was just reading an article in Aquarium fish monthly (I think) and the author states that copper will even adhere to the glass, and is imposable to completely remove. If you were to use that same tank even years later, it can kill inverts.

so it cant be done then? Crap...i knew i was doing sumthing wrong wen i put that copper in. It cured the fish quickly anyway...ill just go with livesand, i wont be needing that much anyway, its just a 10 gallon. Thanx anyway guys
