Copper treatment

I'm thinking of doing a copper treatment on my fox-face. He seems to made some sort of brown areas on him. They are not spots, but small patches. They started on just one side of him, but now they are on both sides. Not sure what they are, but thought doing a copper treatment for 10 days may get rid of them.
Question about copper. If I use that in the 5g QT, that will basically kill all the parsites, including any alergy. Thus, I would end up not having a bio-filter in there, to get rid of the ammonia and nitrites. Would this not cause problems with the water quality.
Should I just do a freshwater bath with blue meth.
I'm I missing something here, with this copper treatment!!
Someone please explain.

What are the sizes of the spots? This might not be a parasite problem at all. You should also ask some of the folks in the Agressive Forum to see what they think [Puffers are discussed there]. At this point, I don't think you've identified what the problem is, thus treating the fish randomly with a medication could well be pointless. And, IMO, copper treatments are not to be taken lightly.
