copper

I am also posting this in reef.
I think I have a copper problem in an aquarium I bought recently.
My question is: Obviously if I ever want to have inverts and/or corals I need to get a new tank. However, will the copper be absorbed into powerheads, pumps, skimmers?
Will I need to get new live sand? I know the copper will absorb into the live rock but is the live sand ok?

No...everything will be tainted...sorry!
How do you know its been used wit copper? Are inverts dying? Someone on here posted once that after about 2 years as a FO tank enough copper will be removed through water changes to allow inverts to live...something to think about? Good Luck!

I dunno, I think I read some posts here, and believe myself, that copper can be removed from the tank as well as equipment. Where its saturated into LR could be a little more time, but run copper continuosly and dilegently. Changing frquently, and if the tank isnt set up scrub it well with bleach and also all the other equipment.

Don't worry about plastic metal or glass, but I'd get rid of the sand. If it's a glass tank the silicon will absorb some but just run charcoal or chemipure for a few months.

CupriSorb™ is a powerful adsorbent of copper and heavy metals. CupriSorb™ will remove copper more rapidly and efficiently than carbon and is thus ideal for emergency copper removal. It extracts all types of copper from water and, if in continuous use, from the gravel/substrate bed as well. CupriSorb™ will allow maintenance of invertebrates in copper-treated tanks by removing copper leaching from substrates. This product is sold by volume. Cited weight is minimal weight..
Sizes: 100 mL bagged, 250 mL, 500 mL, 1 L, 4 L, 20 L
