Until the ick went trough its complete life cycle ... about two weeks. That is if the copper kills it at all. Hypo is really the way to go IMO.

That was not a good idea. What kind of fish? If they did have anything you have now stressed your fish and may have exposed your display to disease.

The 3 days is no where near enough time. Please closely monitor the fish in your DT tank. Your qt is set up and fully cycled? If not, you may want to get it cycling. If the fish was clean of parasites then great, but if not then you will at least be ready to treat.
